The Upright MRI Advantage
Return Home
Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) is a safe, proven technique for obtaining high-definition images of the inside of the human body. These images allow your physician or chiropractor to see injuries or misalignments that cannot be found through external examination. Magnetic Resonance Imaging is a much used and highly valued tool of modern medicine.
A recumbent or laying down MRI requires the patient to lay still inside a tube during the scan. Many patients find this experience physically uncomfortable and a source of intense stress and anxiety, since it requires being in an enclosed dark space for an extended period of time. Further, MRI scans conducted in a recumbent position fail to simulate the position in which many patients experience their worst symptoms. Standing, bending, or stretching can cause pain for some patients, but the pain diminishes when laying down (during the scan). As a result, the cause of the pain may not be as visible in a recumbent scan, and therefore, not found.
The technology behind Upright MRI changes all that. Its innovative, state-of-the-art design allows patients to be scanned in many different positions, so that pain or discomfort can be identified as it occurs and when it occurs. Time and time again our radiologists have been able to find physical abnormalities through an Upright MRI scan, that have been missed in previous recumbent based scans.
The advantages are clear. Come see for yourself why Upright MRI of Deerfield is the MRI of choice for patients and their doctors. Please call to schedule an appointment or to have your questions answered.
